Why Homebrewing?

I’m just a geek who loves trying all sorts of random things.  I like do it yourself projects and learning.  Brewing beer is one of those things that I was curious about for a long time and, once I finally gave it a try, found I really enjoy.  I consider it my “cooking niche” in a family of excellent chefs (I’m only mediocre when it comes to actual cooking and generally just sous chef for others at family gatherings).  I love that it’s something to share with others and, of course, the cool factor of “you make beer??”  It’s a fun mix of DIY and science with an almost guaranteed tasty end result.

I hope that my journey through this great hobby will help others realize that they can do this, too!  Brewing beer isn’t nearly as intimidating as I once thought.

Why Blank Slate Brew?

There are endless possibilities when it comes to brewing!  It’s an empty canvas, blank slate, the world is your oyster kind of hobby.  I want to encourage people to explore and choose their own brewing adventure.  On a more personal level, having a blank slate just struck a chord with me.  Maybe it was a mid-life crisis sort of epiphany that it’s how I want to approach my life right now.  A mindset of wanting to get out of my comfort zone and shed all the baggage and BS that’s slowly accumulated.  A fresh start.
